A 49-year-old Robbinsdale woman is facing charges in Anoka County after investigators linked her to multiple thefts at a Target store in Fridley, where loss-prevention officers say she and an accomplice stole hundreds of dollars in merchandise over several weeks.
According to the criminal complaint filed October 13, 2025, Latasha Jolliff Casey was charged with gross misdemeanor theft, accused of taking merchandise valued at more than $700 from the Target store located at 755 53rd Avenue NE in Fridley.
Pattern of Theft
Detectives began investigating after Target’s loss-prevention department reported a series of thefts involving the same male and female suspects. Store surveillance allegedly showed the pair entering the store together and passing all points of sale without paying for merchandise on at least two occasions — September 9 and October 7, 2025.
The total value of stolen items across the two incidents was estimated at $765.94. Investigators said the woman involved, later identified as Casey, was seen assisting the male suspect and leaving the store with unpaid merchandise.
After reviewing surveillance footage and internal reports, a Fridley detective identified Casey as the female suspect and issued a warrant for her arrest. She was later located by Hennepin County authorities and transferred to the Anoka County Jail.
Charge and Legal Consequences
Prosecutors charged Casey with Theft – Take or Transfer Movable Property Without Consent, a gross misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail and a $3,000 fine.
Judge Karin McCarthy ordered Casey detained pending her first court appearance in Anoka County District Court.
Broader Retail Theft Trend
Retail theft cases have risen across the Twin Cities over the past two years, prompting stores and local law enforcement to increase surveillance and cross-county coordination. Fridley investigators noted that repeat offenders often travel between metro-area stores, exploiting the high volume of customer traffic to conceal multiple thefts before being identified.
If convicted, Casey could face jail time and restitution requirements for the stolen merchandise.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This article is based solely on verified information from Anoka County District Court filings dated October 13, 2025.
