Ramsey Man Charged with Felony After Police Recover Stolen Trailer Tracked by AirTag

A Ramsey man is facing felony charges after investigators say they found a stolen trailer worth more than $5,000 at his home, traced there by an Apple AirTag hidden underneath the frame.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Anoka County District Court, Justin Randall Robinson, 37, has been charged with receiving stolen property over $5,000, a felony punishable by up to ten years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

Investigators say between October 10 and October 15, 2025, a 6.5-by-16-foot Alcom aluminum trailer was stolen from the back lot of Indian Motorcycle in Rogers. The trailer’s owner told police they had attached an Apple AirTag to the underside, which began pinging from an address on 181st Avenue Northwest in Ramsey—the home of Robinson.

Robinson, who is already facing two other open felony theft cases in Anoka County, was known to law enforcement for his involvement with stolen property, according to the complaint.

On October 15, officers executed a search warrant at Robinson’s residence and found the stolen trailer, still fitted with the AirTag. Investigators noted the trailer’s VIN stickers and license plate had been removed, and the frame showed scrape marks where the VIN decals were typically located.

Officers also located another trailer on the property with similar alterations. Inside a toolbox attached to that second trailer, police discovered the missing license plate belonging to the stolen Alcom trailer.

The recovered trailer was valued at more than $5,000, placing the case in felony territory. Robinson was taken into custody and remains jailed under an order of detention signed by District Court Judge Karin McCarthy on October 17, 2025.

The case was investigated by the Ramsey Police Department and is being prosecuted by the Anoka County Attorney’s Office.
