Brooklyn Park Man Charged in Violent Anoka County Assault Outside Walgreens and U.S. Bank

A Brooklyn Park man with multiple prior domestic assault convictions is facing new felony charges in Anoka County after allegedly assaulting a woman outside a Walgreens and U.S. Bank in downtown Anoka earlier this month.

According to a criminal complaint filed October 13, 2025, Ramornick Ramon Williams, 40, is accused of punching a woman—identified as his ex-girlfriend and the mother of his child—in the face during a violent confrontation that began while they were driving and ended in a parking lot near 129 West Main Street.

The Incident

The complaint states that Anoka Police Officer Melin was dispatched around 9:35 p.m. on October 11 to a reported domestic disturbance at the U.S. Bank on Main Street. While en route, the officer was redirected to the nearby Walgreens at 1911 Ferry Street.

When officers arrived, they found a woman crying in the parking lot. She told police that Williams, her former boyfriend and the father of her one-year-old child, had picked her up earlier in Brooklyn Park to “hang out.” According to the report, he became enraged when he believed she had taken his cellphone.

As they drove north on Highway 169, Williams allegedly yelled and drove at high speed, then grabbed the woman’s phone when she tried to call her mother. When they reached the intersection of Main Street and Ferry Street, the woman reportedly yelled to bystanders to call 911. Williams then pulled into the U.S. Bank parking lot and began striking her repeatedly in the face before she fell from the vehicle and he sped away.

Officer Melin documented visible injuries, including a swollen upper lip and a bloody nose.

Prosecutors charged Williams with felony domestic assault, citing two prior domestic-violence convictions as aggravating factors under Minnesota Statute 609.2242 subd. 4.

Judge Karin McCarthy signed an order for detention that same day, noting probable cause and authorizing Williams’s continued custody pending further hearings.

If convicted, Williams faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Pattern of Prior Domestic Assaults

State and court records show that Williams has two previous domestic assault convictions — one in Hennepin County in 2023 and another in Ramsey County in 2018 — both cited by prosecutors as qualifying offenses for the upgraded felony charge.

  • Hennepin County (2023): Williams was convicted of gross-misdemeanor domestic assault – subsequent violation on September 9, 2024, for an incident on July 31, 2023, in Brooklyn Park. He was sentenced to time in the Hennepin County Workhouse and placed on two years’ probation.
  • Ramsey County (2018): Convicted of misdemeanor domestic assault – act to cause fear of bodily harm after a March 27, 2018, incident in St. Paul, resulting in a short jail term and one-year probation.

His criminal history also includes prior disorderly conduct and theft convictions in the Twin Cities metro area, stretching back nearly a decade.

Court Proceedings Ahead

Williams remains in custody in Anoka County Jail. A first-appearance hearing is expected later this month, where prosecutors are likely to request continued detention and a no-contact order with the victim.

Under Minnesota law, repeat domestic-violence offenders face enhanced penalties and potential revocation of prior probation sentences if convicted of a new assault within ten years.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This report is based solely on official court filings and verified criminal-history records from Anoka, Hennepin, and Ramsey Counties.
