Andover Man Charged in Fridley Domestic Assault; Warrant Issued for Arrest

An Andover man is facing three misdemeanor charges after police say he assaulted his girlfriend in front of a witness, then fled the scene as bystanders tried to intervene.

According to a criminal complaint filed October 10, 2025, Patrick Gene Nelson, 40, has been charged with two counts of domestic assault and one count of disorderly conduct following an incident in Fridley on October 8.

Assault Caught on Video

Police were dispatched around 1:20 p.m. to the 900 block of Pandora Drive after a witness, identified as R.L.C., reported seeing a violent confrontation outside a residence. She told officers she heard yelling and then saw a man grab a woman by the neck, throw her to the ground, and strike her several times.

The witness called out, prompting the man to run off while shouting at her to “mind her own business.” She also provided officers with cellphone video that captured the assault, showing the man tossing the victim to the ground.

Victim Statement

Officers made contact with the victim, identified as T. Anderson, who appeared shaken and reluctant to speak. She eventually told police that Nelson, her boyfriend, grabbed her neck, threw her down, and struck her in the side.

Suspect Identified and Warrant Issued

Through their investigation, police identified the suspect as Nelson, who has a listed address in Andover. A KOPS alert was issued, but as of the filing of the complaint, Nelson had not been located.

The court authorized a warrant for his arrest, with bail set at $1,000 and conditions requiring him to remain law-abiding and appear for all future court hearings.

Charges and Penalties

Nelson faces the following charges:

  • Domestic assault – intentionally inflicting or attempting to inflict bodily harm (misdemeanor).
  • Domestic assault – causing fear of immediate bodily harm or death (misdemeanor).
  • Disorderly conduct – brawling or fighting (misdemeanor).

Each charge carries a maximum penalty of 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Court Action

Judge Jennifer Stanfield signed the complaint and warrant on October 10, 2025, citing the need to protect the victim and public safety. The order directs law enforcement to apprehend Nelson without delay and bring him before the court.
